The Cultural PartnershipCommunities of Action ProjectsThe Cultural Partnership Communities of Action projects inspire communities to participate in community cultural activities. Through the Cultural Partnership, CoA’s will be able to recruit new members, share knowledge and expertise, and resource the aspirations they have for their locality. The Cultural Partnership has set a target of delivering 25 Communities of Action projects in the first year. Community of Action Showcase Artists Screenings The Artist Screening project is a new exciting initiative for local artists to exhibit their work to the public on Reading Borough Council display screens. The display screens are situated in the following venues; The Hexagon, Central Swimming Pool, Central Library and the Town Hall and Museum. This project is free and will enable the Reading community to access and view new art forms in a contemporary way. It involves one to one sessions with a physical activity expert who will tailor make a specific programme for you to access physical activity. If you haven't been active for a while don’t worry – there are plenty of activities designed for people like you which our physical activity experts will advise you on. With support and guidance, you get enjoy all the benefits of activities that are just right for you! How it will work
To book on contact the Culture and Sport Development Office on 0118 937404 Mapledurham Pavilion The Parks Service and The Culture and Sport Development Service are working closely with Mapledurham residents and the current and potential sports clubs that use the Pavilion to improve the facilities available to the community. A fundraising team is being established to work on generating funds for the redevelopment of the hall part of the pavilion and a sports fundraising team are coming together to apply for external funding to cover the costs of the changing facilities etc. Data is currently being gathered to form the basis of an Expression of Interest to the Football Foundation. Reading Climbing Centre An exciting new programme is being developed in partnership with the Reading Climbing Centre to enable people with disabilities to take part in climbing activities. Taster sessions will be held in the lead up to Christmas through the Aiming High programme with ‘pay as you go’ follow on sessions available in the new year. The second element of the project will be a young peoples training and mentoring programme, starting with young people from the Positive Futures programme who will be taking part in Level 1 and 2 NICAS training, and then supporting and mentoring new young people joining the programme.
